MENTOR PROGRAM
Mentorship is a cornerstone of MCM’s chamber music program, driving a culture of growth and community. High school students spend part of each day mentoring younger ensembles, gaining leadership experience while deepening their own musical understanding by guiding rehearsals and articulating ideas. Younger students, in turn, are inspired by these role models, developing ensemble skills and musical insight through observation and collaboration. Mentorship also enhances college applications by demonstrating leadership, initiative, compassion, and interpersonal skills. These relationships foster a lasting culture of service to each other that strengthens the entire music community.
FACULTY
Mosaic Chamber Music’s faculty is composed of an exceptional group of artists and educators drawn from across San Diego’s vibrant musical community. Our roster includes members of the San Diego Symphony, distinguished faculty from local and university music programs, and highly regarded performers and educators throughout San Diego County. With deep professional experience, faculty guide students not only in individual musicianship and ensemble playing, but also in the broader life skills that chamber music uniquely develops—much like a team sport. Students learn how to collaborate musically, celebrate shared achievements, communicate and respond to feedback, offer thoughtful critique with diplomacy, interpret subtle nonverbal cues, and build the physical and mental endurance. Our faculty create an environment where students are both challenged and supported as they grow into confident, collaborative musicians.
